The Beginning

Well... one day I went looking for a list of all the wineries in Iowa. What I found was not what I expected. The first website I chose had over 50 wineries listed. At this point I am intrigued so I keep looking. I find two more lists that I decide to use as well. As I unfolded the Iowa map out on the floor in front of me and began drawing circles around all the places I was going to visit, I never once felt overwhelmed. It was pure excitement and I couldn't wait to get started.
Now I should go back to when it first began. My first winery was Eagle City Winery in Iowa Falls, IA. The vineyard was beautiful, the owner was so sweet, and the wine was like nothing I had ever tasted. As my friends and I sampled various flavors, something inside of me was ignited. As we departed, I thought to my self, this was so much fun. I had no idea that places like this existed in good ole Iowa.
My big idea would not come until after visiting my second winery. That visit was to John Ernest Vineyard & Winery in Tama, IA. A friend and I decided to take a little drive to check this place out when we found out that they were having a live band one Saturday night. When we arrived, we were surprised at how busy they were. The place was packed. We could barley find a parking spot and when we did, we had to wait for a spot at the bar to taste some samples. It was definitely worth the wait. The staff was very pleasant and they were generous in letting us try as many different wines as we liked. This was when I discovered I prefer the sweeter end of the spectrum. As we sat in the grass watching the band and enjoying a refreshing winerita, I knew I wanted to keep doing this. It was not long after when the big adventure was created.
There is so much more to tell. I started this blog a little late so I will be playing catch up for awhile. I hope you come back to read more....
